The most important purpose of the United Nations International Day of Happiness is recognition as a human right for all human beings.

Another important purpose of the International Day of Happiness (UNIDOHappiness) is to inspire grassroots initiative and action demanding change from governments who should prioritize and focus on happiness of citizens, over war and conflict.
